K-Co was founded in 1995 by Dave K Konstantin, a third-generation Carpenter, and his wife Ruby Konstantin. Dave's stepson, Chad Gardner, began working for K-Co shortly after the company was founded. Having a construction background and a degree in business management from San Diego State, Chad was a perfect addition to the family business.
He remained as the Vice President and General Manager until 2008, when Dave retired. Chad has since been running the company, and officially became the President and Owner of K-Co Construction, Inc. in 2014.
We are your neighbors. My family has lived and worked in Clairemont/Bay Park all my life. That matters to you because it means I’m going to work really hard to make sure you are happy with our work. After all, I’m probably going to run into you at a local store or restaurant and I want that to be a pleasant experience for both of us!
Our family has always believed that giving back to the community that supports us is vital to our success. K-Co is well known throughout the community as being annual supporters of events such as the Clairemont Family Days, the Day at the Bay, Holmes Elementary School Hero Run, the Boys and Girls Club, among many others. Additionally, several of our family members have been on the local planning committees, and the Clairemont Town Council. In 2006, we began publishing the Clairemont Community News to provide a resource in the neighborhood to share news about local people, events, and businesses. Janet Konstantin was the managing editor for a few years until the time when she took over publishing of the paper completely.
Our company strategy is based on “Economy of Geography.” We limit our service area to roughly a 5 mile radius around our office on Clairemont Drive. That means we do not take on jobs outside this area, no matter how attractive they may be. Why? Because I want my staff working on my customers’ projects, not sitting in traffic on the freeway. I want them to be able to respond to your needs quickly, and they can if they are already working in your neighborhood.
There’s another advantage to having worked primarily in this area: we have remodeled just about every floor plan you will find here, so we know what works in these homes. We likely have a reference from someone with the same floor plan as you and for whom we have done the same project.
